Do you ever have one of those days when it seems you have more questions than answers?  I know the economy is a mess and it seems I'm surrounded by people that I love and care about that are dealing with some heart wrenching issues whether it's health, jobs, finances, loss, marriage.....the list goes on and on.  I desperately wish I had some answers to the "why's" of life, but I don't.  If I really sit and think about it I could have pages full of why questions for God.  I am a person who wants to understand things.  I feel that if I can get my questions answered then I might be able to handle the situation a little better.  I think we all know, however, there are certain questions that will never be answered this side of heaven.

I have a friend named Joy.  I was standing with her when she was speaking to a woman who had a lot of questions about a particular situation in her own life.  She didn't understand why things were happening the way they were.  Joy looked at her and said, "I know you have a lot of questions and there are a lot of things you don't know and don't understand about this situation, so let's focus on what we DO know."

Wow.  That really touched me and made me think.  Instead of focusing on what we don't know, let's focus on what we DO know.  What do we know about God and how He works in situations?  What do we know about God and the way He loves us as His children?  I know what Scripture tells me.  Isaiah 43: 1-3 says, "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.  For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."

In the midst of all the questions let's not forget what we DO know.  God is with us.  He has called us by name and we are His. He knows us intimately.  He will be with us as we pass through the waters and walk through the fire of this life.  He will never abandon us!  Let's take comfort and have hope in that knowledge!  That is what we DO know!
